about
Thanks for visiting my blog. I’m a software developer from Istanbul, Turkey. After studying Computer Science at Sabanci University, I moved to the U.S. on a Fulbright scholarship and received a M.S. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology with specializations in data mining and machine learning.
I’m passionate about technology. I enjoy reading about software development, marketing and startup companies. Here are some of the interesting things I’ve done in the past:
- Co-founder of GrupGuru, a Turkish group buying aggregator
- Worked at Turkcell Technology on recommender systems, developed Turkcell’s “Online Islemler” application for Android
- Interned at Adobe as a software engineer, was part of Adobe Illustrator team in Silicon Valley
- Contributed to an open-source project called OpenMRS which was funded by Google’s Summer of Code program
- Featured on Turkish newspapers such as Radikal and Vatan; had a live TV appearance on KanalTurk
- Co-founder of counter-strike.gen.tr and csmerkezi.com websites in 1999, a daily updated Turkish blog about Counter-Strike that had 2,000 daily unique visitors
Recommender systems, large data processing on Hadoop clusters and mobile application development (iPhone, Android) are among my current professional interests.
